Clutch is an important part of AMT, the separation of clutch plays a key role in AMT automatic transmission. When combined with friction clutch temperature rise quickly, make the clutch working under high temperature environment for a long time. High temperature had a great influence on clutch, cause changes in work characteristics, especially the cover assembly are greatly influenced by temperature. In this paper, based on the temperature and thermal-structure coupling characteristics of AMT clutch cover assembly, summarized the research status at home and abroad, analyzes the heat transfer model of the clutch cover assembly, outlined the theory knowledge and the required parameters of the thermal analysis. Creating the pressure plate and diaphragm spring FEM model according to the structural characteristics of clutch cover assembly and determine the boundary conditions of thermal analysis according to the cover assembly work environment. Analysed the temperature field of diaphragm spring and characteristic of pressure plate temperature rise and cooling which considering the heat conduction, convection and radiation boundary. Further analysis the thermal-structure coupling characteristics of pressure plate and diaphragm spring, got the result of thermal stress, thermal deformation and the compression force change trend of diaphragm spring under the working temperature. The temperature rise and cooling characteristic and connect torque property were test by using clutch test bench. Compare the finite element simulation analysis results with the test data, the results show that the finite element analysis curve of clutch temperature rise and cooling are very similar with test curve. The connect torque result show that output torque have the tendency of increasing first and then decreasing with the rise of clutch temperature, which have some relationship with pressure force decrease of the diaphragm spring.
