Investigation And Analysis Of Actual Capacity At The Different Phase Intersection

In recent years, the development of urban transport is rapid in the Mainland China, and the motor vehicle has increased year by year. Because of the construction of urban transport were in a relatively backward stage, the traffic jam was always occurred at the intersections in the city. As the main traffic problem is the lack of capacity at the intersection, the content in this paper is to analyze the reason and take effective measures by investigating the actual operating state of the intersection.Based on studying the existing research and its lack, the typical flat cross with traffic signal in Harbin City is chosen to analyze and discuss the actual capacity at the intersection with different phase and its influence factor. And then the reasonable improvements are put forward on providing a theoretical basis for urban road upgrading, as well as traffic management, planning, design and construction.In this paper, the actual capacity at the different phase intersection with traffic signal, such as2-phase intersection,3-phase intersection and4-phase intersection are compared and investigated. Then the lack reason of actual capacity and its influence factors, the obstruction to the vehicle with different traffic signal are also revealed. Especially in ice and snow conditions, it is worth noting that the abatement degree of the capacity with different traffic signal is not the same, and the capacity under good weather conditions are compared with it. Firstly, the related researches are expounded comprehensively by the research line and methods. Secondly, the parameters of traffic flow at the intersection with traffic signal are analyzed theoretically, including the capacity, saturation flow rate, traffic volume and its delay. Thirdly, the actual capacity is investigated by the method of manual and photography statistics, so the traffic parameters are truthful and accurate. Finally, the model of the actual capacity at the intersection is established to analyze the reasons lead to the traffic jam and take effective improvements.
