With continuously develop in economic and technology, varieties of advancedtechnology has been widely utilized in many region of China, earth-retaining wallwith rebar and geogrid, which is simply built, relatively less spent has beenenormously utilized in railway and expressway construction for its outstandingengineering performance and environmental protection. Therefore, it is of bigimportance studying this type of earth-retaining wall. Based on the bearing capacityformula derivation and numerical model analysis of the retaining wall, this paper getsthe optimum arrangement ways of rebar and grating. Morever, the paper evaluates thedisadvantages of this new kind of earth-retaining wall through researching itsdurability and some construction details and comparing to the specific engineeringexample. The main results are as follows:1、Based on the traditional limit equilibrium theory, the paper carefully analysisthe distribution of the soil pressure existing in the back of the retaining wall, thenderived the general formula of the earth-retaining walls’ positive earth pressure, whichis applied to any kind of soil, any angle of back of the retaining wall and the packingslope.2、The paper analysized the earth-retaining wall with double twisted hexagonalsteel-wire and geogrid utilizing the specific software FLAC3D, obtaining theregularity of load, displacement and deformation velocity of the retaining wall. Theresults show that the retaining walls with composite and uniform reinforcement havethe similar mechanical respond, only the reinforcement with bigger stiffness bearmore pulling force.3、Utilizing FLAC3D to analysis retaining walls with symmetrical reinforcement,grouped reinforcement and alternating reinforcement, figuring out the mostreasonable way of arranging reinforcement. The numerical results figure that thedisplacement of the retaining wall is affected by the reinforcement arrangement, thedisplacement of the walls with alternating reinforcement is relatively small comparingto those with grouped reinforcement. Reducing stiffness of the reinforcement is moreeffective in decreasing the displacement than raising the stiffness of reinforcementwith bigger interlayer spacing when the spacing is constant, to get the economicalengineering model, alternating reinforcement with suitable stiffness should be used inthe retaining wall with rebar and geogrid.4、 Based on the experiments, this paper analysized the durability of the galvanized and plated “Gao Erfan” steel wire. The results show that the resistance tocorrosion of the plated “Gao Erfan” steel wire increased as the time went by.5、The construction of the earth-retaining wall cost less than the traditional rigidretaining wall on the economic level, generally it does not have unexpected cost asthere are only some simple surface cleaning process of the foundation exterior softsoil, therefore, for the project with one-time investment which is predictable,reinforced gabion retaining wall for minimum cost, general embankment project costsare relatively high, the masonry retaining wall project costs will be much higher; onthe protection of resources, technology leadership, especially environmentalprotection is beautiful and safe and reliable, reinforced gabion retaining wall hasobvious advantages, in line with the policy of resource in China and environmentalprotection.
