The line loss rate in distribution network of power system in our country is higher thanthe developed country, With the topology of distribution network changing continually andthe level of managing network loss lagged, the network loss produced annually by powersupply enterprises has a serious impact on the economic efficiency of the enterprisesthemselves. In order to improve the level of technically economic operation in our countryand specify the management of line loss in the power supply enterprises, it is required that thepower supply enterprises should reduce the system line loss to an appropriate range and getefforts on improving economic efficiency and reliability to a certain level according on theneed of operating mechanism in the electricity market. The reactive power compensation indistribution network can not only regulate system voltage, but also can effectively reduce thenetwork loss of the distribution network, which played an important role in keeping thereliability, stability and economy of the distribution network.Firstly, this paper sketched the research background and significance of reducing the gridloss in distribution network, and analyzed the method of calculating loss and load flow indomestic and the research situation and development direction of reative power optimizationalgorithm. Additionally, it studied the practical method of calculating loss and optimizationtheory of reducing loss in this paper. The corresponding measures of reducing loss wasproposed according to the main problems of reducing loss in China’s regional grid.Secondly, in order to accurately grasp the line loss condition in distribution network, thispaper proposed reasonable operational measures to reducing grid loss, and built models ofnetwork losses status estimation and optimization. The analyzed result showed that themathematical model and algorithm in the paper are effective, reasonable, and practical. Thesystematic and in-depth research achieved the combination of theory and practice, lying afoundation to carry out research work for the later chapters. Then the paper described the characteristics of the original data in distribution network, and regard a realistic distribution lines as an example to introduce the final step of distributionnetwork topology and parameters, and introduced how to get the data such as typicalparameters of the transmission lines and cable per unit length, the typical parameters and transformers in the distribution network. the project team developed program of analyzingand calculating network loss, including the program of load flow calculation and reactiveconfiguration optimization, which proved operability of the proposed program through anexample with several multi-node distribution lines. Finally, forward-backward sweep method is used to calculating the power flow of atypical regional10kV power grid line loss in paper, and the analysis results is close to therealistic situation of power grid in a given area. The paper calculated the shunt reactive powercompensation optimization for all distribution lines, and regarded the sum of the costs ofnetwork losses and reactive compensation investment as optimization goals, so shuntcapacitance compensation place and the excellent compensation capacity configuration areobtained, achieving better economic efficiency, which proved the effectiveness of theproposed Reactive Power Optimization Algorithm, and the optimization results are good forthe power sector to optimize allocation of the limited resources.
