With the development of Intelligent Transportation Systems Technology,the Electronic Toll Collection System as an important part of Intelligent TransportationSystems has been paid more attention. Electronic Toll Collection System can make thevehicle through the pass without parking, improving the access efficiency.With thebackground computer systems, the system can charge the vehicle through the wirelesscommunication between the road-side unit and the on-board side unit without parking.State Dedicated Short Range Communication standard GB/T20851is the designstandard of Electronic Toll Collection System. Road-side unit of the Electronic TollCollection System has been designed and developed accordance with the DedicatedShort Range Communication standard GB/T20851. RF transceiver module andbaseband processing module are the two modules of this design. Modulation anddemodulation are the main function of RF module which is the hardware circuitdesigned according to the physical layer of the Dedicated Short Range Communicationstandard. The baseband processing module is the hardware circuit which achieves thedata link layer and application layer of Dedicated Short Range Communication standard.The protocol software and drivers has been designed based on the hardware circuit.This article first introduced the technology background and the development homeand abroad. Subsequently the overall design program and the major chip selection areproposed. BK5822is the modulation and demodulation chip. Samsung S3C2440is corechip of the baseband control chip. The Linux operating system is the operating systemof this system. Then the hardware circuit schematics and PCB layouts are draw. Withthe analysis of the data structures and process of the protocol, the protocol’srequirements are achieved. The drivers are designed for the control and interface.Finally is the system debugging and testing.
