The Study Of Fenghuang Ancient Town Street Space Form Based On Space Syntax

There is a intrinsic order and regularity in each colony, it’s difficult to accuately grasp the complicated relations of elements through simple experience judgment. This research includes two main aspects, the one is Space Syntax theory and its corresponding study methods; The second is the research of Fenghuang Anciet Town’s street space form.Space Syntax is the main theoretical basis of this article, the author carries the detailed elaboration on it, including its core theory, research content and the relations of configuration, and further research the four basic methods of Space Syntax:Convex Polygon, Axis, Visual Area and All Lines. For colonies, it’s effective to use corresponding methods to research different levels. Sometimes, it’s necessary to apply a variety of methods to analysis the same level comprehensive, in order to fully excavate its inner relationship of configuration.As the main study object, Fenghuag Ancient Town has five stages of growth: settlement, deveopment, prospperity, decline and redevelopment. The auther has carried on the field research for Fenghuang Ancient Town, and cleared up the relevant literature, then dividing it’s street spcace form into three parts:the street traffic space form, the rever system space form and the node space form. And research the dominant factors of its formation and development.On the basis of above research, the author using the theory of Space Syntax and the corresponding research methods to analysis Fenghuang Ancient Town street space form from macro, meso and micro levels. With the aid of computer aided software, the complex street space can be presented visually. Then to analysis the relationship between each street in ancient towns, and summarize its internal order.At the end of the article, the author discuss the correlation between the main land of Fenghuang Ancient Town and its integration, to proves the rationality of the ancient town land layout, and the feasibility of Space Syntax. On the basis, the author analysis the other two famous ancient town in Xiangxi (Qianzhou Ancient Town, Liye Town), through comparing them and Fenghuang Ancient Town, to think of the personality and common problems between Xiangxi Old Town.
