Brief Discussion On The Status And Development Direction Of Landscape Management In Baotou City

Basing on the review of the present research literature about landscaping management,this paper investigated the status and existing problems of landscaping management in Baotoucity, analyzed the further development direction, aiming to provide reference for theharmonious and sustainable development of landscaping in Baotou city.The effect and significance of landscape management on the city construction, urbandevelopment and life of urban residents were discussed firstly. With the increasinglyprominent problems in economic construction, environmental protection and quality of liferelated to landscape management the landscape management gained more and more attention.Besides the development status of landscaping management highly relates to the quality ofresidents’ life and the urban economic development, reflects the degree of social civilization,as well as the interaction between landscape management and social value orientation. Tosome degree the landscape management improves the local economy and culture. Takentogether, the development of landscape management lays foundation for the rapid increase ofeconomy, continuous improvement of living standard, sustained upgrade of urbancompetitiveness and the achievement of urban sustainable development.Then the status of landscape management in Baotou city was analyzed. It is recognizedthat the landscape management has gained some achievement in public green spacemanagement, specified green space management, landscaping construction, maintenancemanagement, production of landscaping material and the scientific research, education andservice management of landscape. However there are still some problems such as themonotony of ecological community, shortage of maintenance funds, deficiency inmanagement function, short in elites, weak in technical force and lack of innovation.In the end the development direction of landscape management was proposed andelucidated on the basis of the status, physiographic condition and anthropogenic factor inBaotou city. It is suggested that in the near future (from2011to2015) the developmentdirection of landscape management should target on the construction of eco-friendly andlivable city as well as regional central city, focus on the improvement of urban ecological quality and strengthen the construction with the best quality. Therefore the construction ofgreen space and road with best quality will be achieved and the level of maintenancemanagement will be enhanced. The long-term (2016-2025) strategy should pay attention tothe reasonable exploitation and utilization of local landscaping resources and the abundant invarieties of landscaping plants. Besides, the economic, environmental and ecologic friendlyconstruction should be brought into force, finally fulfill the transition to the regional centralcity.
