Discharge structure is the important part of the hydraulic project, the running safely keyof hydraulic project is due to the discharge structure. In past dam accident analysis, the mainreason is the fail of discharge structure. It is necessary to study the Layout and Shape of thedischarge structure.This article is use Changma Reservoir as the specific object to study on. Analyze thehydraulic characteristics of spillway and sediment tunnel use test model and NumericalSimulation, especially the choices of spillway flip bucket.Through the normal movable bed Model contain whole dam area of Changma Reservoirwhich geometric scale is1:50, solve the problems of the choices of outlet body and dischargecapacity of spillway and sediment and basic meet Changma Reservoir operationalrequirements.But in the running of the reservoir, the outlet water of left edge of the the spillway sweepthe bank slope, the nappe placement is centralized and located on the left bank of the foot ofthe slope, so the deep scour hole is formed on the shore, threat to the safety of the bank slopedirectly. Based on the tests and research on the reconstruction of flip bucket for the spillwayof Changma hydropower project, and through modification of the flip bucket shape, a newflip bucket,Great Circle bucket-oriented widely suitable,is proposed. The nappe of this typeof bucket can not only with a good guiding function, effectively control the filling location,range and distribution of nappe, but also extend along longitudinal direction and horizontaldirection, and cover a large range of energy dissipation zone which reduce river-bed scouring.As the numerical simulation is widely used in the test on discharge structure, the articlealso use FLIUNT to study on the spillway flip bucket. Through the comparison of simulationresults and experimental data, found that the Hydraulic factors in the spillway are agreebetween the two results, the error is generally at about10%. But in the simulation shaped flipbucket, standard model, the realizable model simulation results are not verysatisfactory, large errors in the simulation resultscompared with model results, The RNG model results are relatively in line with test model, this computational model can be used in numerical simulation for complex shapedbucket.
