With the rapid development of social economy and the progress of urbanization andmotorization, the traditional evaluating method for the accessibility of rail transit can notsatisfy the increasing demand of high efficiency and accessibility for travelers. As ameasurement for urban rail transport, the accessibility has an important influence on urbannetwork layout, land use, the construction of public transport system and so on. Thus, it isimportant and necessary to study the evaluation method of accessibility for urban railtransport. The main content of this paper is as follows:(1) On the basis of the development process of accessibility and the predecessor’s studies, this paper discusses the concept and connotation of accessibility for urban rail transport andanalyzes four functions of accessibility.(2) Theoretical and empirical methods are used to analyze the feasibilities of classicalaccessibility models, which contain block model, cumulative opportunity model, potentialmodel, utility model and time and space constraints model, and summarize their advantagesand disadvantages to provide a basis for a reasonable accessibility model of urban railtransport. From the point of accessibility, this paper studies urban rail transport, analyzes andevaluates current urban rail transport, and gives choices for the conception, theory and thespecific plan of future urban rail transit planning.(3) On the basis of the above five classical models, quantitative model and theoptimization model for system evaluation based on Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process areadopted to research the accessibility for urban rail transport on the whole by using thecombination model. The quantitative evaluation model of the accessibility for urban railtransport is set up by analyzing factors of time, price, transfer times and station numbers. Onthe basis of this, some qualitative indexes which are not suitable to be evaluated, such as thefactors of urban structure and size, land use, opportunity obtained, Transport system andpersonality, are put in to build the fuzzy synthetic evaluation model to give a future analysisto the accessibility for urban rail transport.(4) Satisfaction surveys based on accessibility for urban rail transport are designed, thispaper uses probabilistic method to process the data and solve the weighs of each factors of theaccessibility for urban rail transport.(5)This paper takes Chongqing as an example. At first, quantitative model is used toquantitatively analyze the accessibilities of the Chongqing rail transit line1, line2, line3andline6, and the accessibilities of Yuzhong district, Jiangbei district, Nanan district, Banandistrict, Dadukou district, Jiulongpo district and Shapingba district is compared. The resultsshow that the accessibilities of the Chongqing rail transit is consistent with economicconditions. Then, according to traffic survey, this paper qualitatively analyzes theaccessibilities of Chongqing by collecting data, summarizes the attentions of the results inpractical issues, and discusses the improving directions of the accessibility for urban railtransport. The results show that the residents in Chongqing are satisfied with the currentrailway traffic routes, and higher accessibility can be obtained by strengthening line planningand infrastructure facilities of rail transport.
