The dump truck is widely used in mines and construction sites for its high efficiency as the important impact in economic construction. So its drive axle housing is easy to produce deformation and fracture,and needs enough static strength and fatigue life.At present the most research is according the experience to increase the thickness to ensure the strength and stiffness,which are conservative.With the energy conservation and environmental protection being accepted,people have more requirements for the drive axle housing.The lightweight would reduce the weight and improve the comfort and comfort of the dump truck.Taking the drive axle housing of TY-1heavy dump truck as the research object,the paper has carried on the check for static characteristics, dynamic characteristics and fatigue strength,then synthetically uses two kinds of optimization methods to achieve the lightweight of the drive axle housing,the mainly working as follows:Based on the finite element analysis theory,the paper takes the static strength analysis of the selected drive axle housing under combination conditions,and confirms that the drive axle housing not only meets the design requirements,but also has enough materials. The paper takes the model analysis and obtains the first12natural frequency and modal vibration mode.The results confirms that the drive axle housing will not have resonance phenomenon.then the paper takes the harmonic response analysis and obtains the frequency displacement response curves.The results determines the dangerous frequency and weak vibration area.Based on the finite element analysis sortware Radioss,the paper takes the fatigue life analysis.The results show that the fatigue life of the dangerous parts meets the design requirements.The paper synthetically uses two kinds of optimization methods to achieve the lightweight.The design scheme of variable cross-section is adopted to the result of optimization,which not only decreases the drive axle housing weight but also improves the material utilization.Lightweight design conform the optimization design idea of the low cost, low consumption and low emissions.This paper explored a new way for structure optimization of the drive axle housing and provide a reference for other mechanical structure optimization design.
