In the west opencast mining of our country, a triaxial dump truck’s thrust rod between the middle bridge and beam junction often crack or fracture, seriously affected the mining process of coal mining, need to analyze reason of the thrust rod fracture, and propose measures for improvement.Accorded the total vehicle, trailers, thrust rod two-dimensional drawings and some parameters provided by the company established the trailer model with leafspring and thrust rod model in the CATIA. Used a variety of cell types of solid elements, shell elements, beam elements, mass unit, rbe connection unit established a frame with solid leafspring finite element model and a frame with linear spring. We did the strength check for bending condition the most common working condition and the torsion with bending condition the most dangerous condition, find the impact of the leafspring’s hysteresis characteristics on the frame’s strength.Did the frequency response analysis in Patran & Nastran for the frame and obtained the response transfer function of the frame.In order to obtain the frame load spectrum, established the vehicle dynamics model in Adams / Car. Used the MATLAB established the C-level road spectrum which the working road condition of the dump truck, generated the rigid-flexible full vehicle-road coupling system in Adams/car,obtained the load spectrum at the ears of leafspeing.Did the FFT for the frame load spectrum to get the load power spectral density, combined with the frame response spectrum transfer function did the vibration fatigue life analysis for the thrust rod and frame in Fatigue, got the thrust rod lower fatigue life region.Used isight optimization analysis software integrates CATIA and Abaqus, particle Swarm algorithm used to optimized thrust rod’s relevant parameters, and improved the structure based on optimization. Thrust rod’s performance improved.
