Roller conveyor is a common continuous conveyor; it can be used to convey goods which are in a certain shape. Roller conveyor is simple, effective, efficient, and universal, so it is wildly used in factory line, logistics center and other place. Traditional roller conveyor, whether chain drived, belt drived or gear drived, it’s power always comes from rotary motor, via speed reducer and drive train, and then arrives rollers finally. These designs are good, but they are huge, complex, and have long power chain. And their power distribution is difficult to change.In recent years, there is a electric roller popular, it use external rotor motor and planetary reducer, which are placed in the roller, to produce power for itself. This roller solves the former problem, the device becomes succinct, the power distribution becomes flexible, you can distribute motive power to anywhere in any number and anyway. But because their outer diameter is small, their process requirement is high, motor capacity is small, and price is expensive. A electric roller sale¥1000~2000new.To simplify the traditional roller conveyor, to promote adaptability and flexibility of power distribution, and to reduce process requirement and cost of existing electric roller, we redesign a new roller conveyor. This roller conveyor uses a new self-forced roller which is called Arched Motor Roller to works, and this rollers use a Arched Stator Motor which we designed as its power. The motor’s primary is curved, and its secondary is the roller’s steel pipe. The curved primary is under the steel pipe, and provides force to motive the steel pipe directly. Actually, the arched motor roller is a Linear Induction Motor, and its usage which provides power directly is just like what linear motor done. In recent years, as a new motive power, linear motor has been used widely, and its performance is very good, in where rotary motor not works effectively.Until now, there is no similar idea in documents, and it’s the first time to use linear motor as roller conveyor’s power. We expect the arched motor roller will succeed the advantages of present electric roller which is small and free, and lower it’s process requirement and cost, improve performance of it. We also expect the new drive approach will inherit the advantages of linear motor, which can output high force via0chains. And finally, the new design will have simple scheme, high efficiency, and high quality of power distribution.To realize the new idea, first we choose a existing roller conveyor as reference object; and then setting original parameters for Arched stator motor, and complete the design of it by the design process of Steel secondary linear motor; next, we redesign the structure of roller conveyor to meet new requirements of new motive power, and design a new electrical control system for the conveyor; finally, we complete the simulation of the linear motor by use of the latest professional electromagnetic simulation software of Ansoft Maxwell V12, the results show the machine parameters are correct and the devise is valid. This linear motor can provide high thrust for roller conveyor, and can be used to drive heavy load.
