Under the condition of polluted environment and short-handed energy resources, the electric vehicles, which are not only saving energy, but also reducing emissions are more and more popular for people in today’s society. Due to drive motor is the core component of electric vehicles, the quality of drive motor is very important for electric vehicles. Permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) has a lot of advantages, such as simple structure, small volume, high efficiency and reliable operation. Therefore, it is more appropriate drive motor for electric vehicles. As the target, the three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor needs to calculate the motor’s parameters and simulate optimization repeatly in order to meet the requirements of electric vehicles.First of all, this paper introduces the permanent magnet synchronous motor’s structure、system composition、the basic principle、classification、control method, etc. Secondly according to the known data and experience, calculate the main parameters of the motor and design a rated voltage 75V, rated power 10KW, rated speed 4000r/min of three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor. Based on the above, it designs and selects the hardware circuit of drive motor. The single-chip microcomputer is STM32F051,which made by ST company. Meanwhile, the relevant circuits for STM32F051 was designed.Through calculating the motor size, it obtains motor model in CAXA. Then this paper carrys out simulation experiments for the motor by using Rmxprt modules and Maxwell 2D modules in the Ansoft software analyses characteristic curves and the magnetic field distribution. Through optimizing motor size over and over again, it obtains ideal simulation results ultimately, and it turns out that the motor complys with the design requirements.
