Light steel structure has the advantages of light weight and high strength, and it’sconstruction is also convenient. Light steel structure has been used more and morewidely in our country in recent years. However the performance of light steel structureis not discussed more than concrete, especially the performance of beam-column joints. The joint is an important part of steel structure, and they are of great importance to thewhole structure. The performance of the joints directly influence the performance ofthe whole structure. The majority of the research about the light steel structureconcentrated in strength and stiffness of the connection. But study on the seismicperformance is limited. This paper mainly studies the performance of rigid andsemi-rigid joints under seismic load. This paper introduces beam-column connection types of lightweight steel frame atfirst. Then the studyed type of rigid and semi-rigid connections are determined. Basedon the research of domestic and foreign scholars, we adopt the finite element analysismethod to solve the problem, and considering the nonlinear behavior at the same time.We use the finite element software ABAQUS to establish rigid and semi-rigidbeam-to-column points. The loading form of the structure model that we chosed iscyclic displacement load. We discuss three types of rigid joints: the rigid joints withouthaunch plate, haunch plate with50mm, haunch plate with60mm,We will bring samecyclic load to bear on those three types, and study their performance. After that webring a larger cyclic load to bear on the types that haunch plate with50mm and haunchplate with60mm.And then we will compare and find out which type has a higherbearing capacity under seismic loading. For the semi-rigid joints under same cyclicload, we consider how the stress of joint will change if cut cyclic load distance.Adding a triangle haunch to the plate of the semi-rigid joint, and discuss how the stressof joint will change if increase the cyclic load.Through the study, we know, for rigid joints, adding haunch plate will beconducive to reduce the stress of joints. Haunch plate bear most of force. In addtion, increaseing the haunch plate size appropriately could bring a more obvious effect onreducing stress. When the cyclic load is increasing, the hysteresis curve of thesemi-rigid joints against the phenomenon of S. It is thus clear that slip phenomenonstill exists in semi-rigid joints when loads are large. The phenomenon of S is improved when the haunch is added. Like rigid joint, adding haunch plate will also be conduciveto reduce the stress of semi-rigid joints. But the stress of beam which is not directlycontact with the plate is also large. That is because their overall ability to worktogether is not as good as rigid joints. This situation can be improved by adding pointwelding between two pieces of C girders. In the end, this paper suggest some questionsand advices about the further research on joints.
