The Doubly Salient Motor (DSM) applies to air supply system, because of its high-reliability,high-speed. In order to achieve the maximum power density and broaden the applications of the DSM,the electric control system optimization of Doubly Salient Electro-Magnetic Motor (DSEM) is studiedin this project.The development process of DSM is firstly introduced in this paper, the characteristics ofdifferent kinds of DSM are illustrated. The development of position sensor is introduced, and somesensorless methods used in some common motors are included. A12/8pole DSEM is studied, thebasic work principle of the motor electric work is elaborated. In the actual system, to achieve the bestoutput torque of the motor, the control mode that standard angle at low speed and three-state advancedangle at middle-speed and high-speed is used. To improve the torque at high speed further, thesix-state control mode is researched. The working modes of three control strategies are analyzed indetail in this paper, the comparisons of the output torque and torque ripple are drawn by ANSOFTsimulation at different strategies, using six-state advanced angle to replace three-state advanced angleis concluded. In addition, the optimization of position signal detection applied in DSM is studied inthis paper, the characteristic of the DSM’s terminal voltage is analyzed, the fundamental wavecomponent of the terminal voltage is extracted by high-order low-pass filter, the phase compensationis achieved by the coordinate transformation, the zero-crossing of new fundamental wave is coincidedwith the position signal and the position of the rotor is estimated. The correctness of the theoreticalcalculation is verfied through Saber simulation.Finally, A18KW DSEM experimental platform that used in starter and generator system is used,the optimization of electric control system and position signal detection are verfied.
