With the development of automotive industry, vehicle with higher handlingstability, security, environmental friendliness and economy are required. Automotiveelectric power steering system which can significantly improve the handiness ofvehicles, reduce fuel consumption, and more environmentally friendly are now widelyused in various cars. This paper focuses on optimizing the EPS system on the basis oftest results of all important parameters, and then validates the improving system bycomputer simulation analysis.Firstly, set up test equipment based on virtual instrument test technology andrelated test specs. By the advantages of software multi-threaded, adapt Labview toprogram software as hardware foundation which can perform signal simulation, dataacquisition, analysis and database storage management for system test and analysis.Analyze for tester’s key components and in order to meet the samplingsynchronization use angle encoder’s outputs pulse signal as the sampling clock foracquisition data card.Secondly, implement test on an EPS system sample, aiming at the analysis forinput/output characteristic, power characteristics, no-load rotational torque andsteering angle transmission characteristic. As current follower characteristics hasdefect, optimize the control algorithm per the sample test results; then, establish EPSsystem mathematical model that parameter were obtained from test data.Finally, according GB/T6323and ISO-3888specs, set up vehicle and EPSsystem model based on CARSIM and MATLAB/SIMULINK, and introduce fuzzycontroller to conduct simulation experiment to study the impact that EPS system withfuzzy control strategy has on vehicle steering portability and stability. Then byreplacing ECU with programmable power, an experiment will be also set up to verifycurrent following features of optimized control strategy. It proves that the optimizedsolution can effectively improve vehicle handling portability and flexibility, it also hasa better stability.
