The steering system is used to control vehicle driving direction, its performanceaffects the comfort and safety of vehicle directly, so the research on steering system isone focus research of the vehicle handling stability. This paper mainly research on theelectric power steering system and its relationship with vehicle handling stability.This paper first introduced the structure and principle of electric power steeringsystem, and the composition, classification and research status,illustrating the mainclass capacity and starting point of this thesis; Second,the paper established themathematical model of electric power steering system, and the mathematical model oftwo degrees freedom of the vehicle. On this basis, the dynamic characteristics ofelectric power steering system were analyzed. The effects of the electric powersteering system various parameters on the stability of steering system were studiedthrough simulation; Finally, the paper determined the electric power steering systemdynamical characteristics curve, and the model of electric power steering system wasestablished in the MATLAB, vehicle dynamics model was established in the ADAMS,Combined with simulation, comparing the change of the vehicle steering stabilityunder different EPS controller. This study provids the foundation for the furtherresearch of control strategy of electric power steering system, at the same timeprovids reference for the design improvement of vehicle handling stability.
