With the rapid development of subway construction in China in recent years,subway, as a strategic transport facility in the city, is featured with a large amount oftransport, convenience, safety and comfort. Subway construction not only eases thetension of urban transport, but also boosts the city’s rapid economic development,enhances the overall competitiveness of the city, and creates an eco-friendly urbanenvironment. The development of superstructure property above the subway, is theproduct of the subway construction, as well as the product of the process of urbanization,bearing great significance to the subway construction and urban development. Thesubway superstructure property and commercial complex has rapidly developed inChina, causing widespread concern in government departments and design sectorcounterparts, and requiring in-depth study of the many problems.Based on the case study of the construction of superstructure property andcommercial complex above the subway in Tianhe district of Guangzhou City, this thesisfirst introduced the development background of railway superstructure property andcommercial complex to put forward the purpose and significance of this study and alsomake a overview on it. It also made a brief summary about the current situation of theconstruction of property and commercial complex above the subway in Guangzhou.Then from the perspective of architectural design of railway superstructure property andcommercial complex, it carried through the project research on three typical cases inTianhe district of Guangzhou–TeeMall, Grandview Plaza, and Taikoo Hui. It hadaccess to research-based information through in-depth surveys and questionnaires from its organized form of connection with the subway, major transportation routes,functional format layout, subway-oriented identity, and interchange system with othercity public transport. Finally, it conducted horizontal comparison analysis on theresearch cases, analyzing their strengths and weaknesses so as to summarize the designfeatures of the construction of superstructure property and commercial complex aboveMTR Station; development proposals were also be put forward from the perspective ofstrengthening the subway transfer system construction, optimizing the design of theconnection modes, improving the supporting facilities construction, digging features,and avoiding homogenization, so as to achieve the summary with the combination oftheory and practiceMost domestic scholars analyzed the construction of superstructure property andcommercial complex above MTR Station from the perspective of economics,management and macro-control, which basically focused on the pattern of development.However, few scholars considered these problems from the perspective of architectureand architectural design. With the lessons from the case, this thesis tried to summarizethe design features of commercial complex above MTR Station, and it will be regardedas the essentials of design process, with the hope that it can provide a reference forrailway superstructure property and commercial complex to make common explorationof the improvement of design method, and that it can provide a reference for theconstruction of domestic MTR Station complex.
