There exist different degrees of variability in materials, structure and construction technology duringthe construction process of asphalt pavement, the most direct consequence of this is that the road doesn’tmatch with design requirements after construction, resulting in cracks, rutting, weeping and segregationafter the road put into operation, affect the performance and safety of the road. In order to meet therequirement of target reliability and to achieve precise control of road construction, the research usingcorresponding examination to evaluate the variability of road construction, using First Order SecondMoment (FOSM) and Monte Carlo Method to calculate the reliability of road structure, to achieve a preciseevaluation of the health condition of the road. The main research results are as follows:By analysis the parameters of materials, structure and construction technology, we can come to theconclusion that: although parameters exit variability in the scope of the specification requirement, but thedeviation will influence the thermal stability, low temperature crack resistance and moisture susceptibility. This research use Minitab to statistic analysis the probability distribution of parameters, get the conclusionas follows: penetration, softening point, the thickness of the structure and asphalt-aggregate ratio all inaccordance with normal distribution, the ductility and structural layer modulus comply with the lognormaldistribution. This paper use FOSM and Monte Carlo method to calculate the reliability of the pavement structure, the conclusion found that the pavement structure can’t reach the target reliability requirement in the designlife, but its reliability indicator ZZ>0, the structure damage could not appeared. Analysis the sensitivity ofdesign parameters we can draw: the resilient modulus of the soil base impact the reliability largest, followed by the sub-base thickness, there is no good correlation between the rest of design parameters andreliability, therefore, reduce the variability of the resilient modulus of the soil base can improve thereliability of the pavement structure. Through ANSYS analysis can get the cumulative probabilitydistribution function, at the same time, we can get the probability of design parameters fall under the targetreliability requirement. The study find that the base modules fall into the scope of the reliability is thelowest, only53%, so we should control the variability of base modulus. Use Minitab to check the outputvariable deflection Dmaxwhether conform to the normal distribution, and find that the P<0.005, while the Pvalue of the lognormal distribution meet the requirements, so the correct distribution of surface deflectionis lognormal distribution. According to the analysis can get the conclusions as follows: the variability of the resilient modulus ofthe soil base impact the reliability of the pavement structure lager. On this basis, according to the differentvariation coefficient of the resilient modulus of the soil base, then grading the health status of differentpavement. According to the requirements of target reliability, we can quantitative classification of thepresent qualitative grading standard of health, sub-health and disease.
