As a high-performance ship, the wave-piercing catamaran is doing well in muchaspect, especially in the performance of speedy, stability and seakeeping. WPCs arehigh-speed and appropriate to varied usage and sea area, even in adverse sea conditionsthey also can keep stable navigation. In China, the application of WPC is graduallyextended, so there is a very important significance in the research on WPC’s performance.First, based on the Michell formula of the catamaran and using the tent function toexpress the wave-piercing catamaran hull surface,a wave-making resistance formula forwave-piercing catamaran is suggested. The resistance of certain WPC is calculated bymeans of this method. Its results are compared with the experimental results, and theresistance regulations of WPC are investigated. Some meaningful conclusions are drawnthrough studying the influence of the hull space of WPC on its wave-making resistance.Second, frank source distribution method is used to calculate the two-dimensionalfluid potential and the hydrodynamic coefficients. The research use STF method, takinginto account the fluid viscous effect,to predict the longitudinal motion performance ofwave-piercing catamaran. The longitudinal motion of certain WPC is calculated by meansof this method. The comparison of the calculation results and experimental data show thatthe method of this paper can well predict the motions of wave-piercing catamaran.
