Switched reluctance motor drive system has many advantages, such as, simple andhave high reliability, wide speed range and excellent speed controlling performance,suitable for working in bad situations, so it becomes a strong contender of AC and DCmotor control system. It has been widely used in electrical vehicle, aerospace, textilemachinery, household appliances and so on. This paper design a SRD system of threephases,six/four structure, its rated power is400W, speed range is50r/min to11000r/min,and successfully applied it to the cooking machine.Starting from some motor applications’ need for low-power, wide speed range, thepaper do a study on the structure of the SRM, power converter, motor controller, controlstrategies. The paper propose a control scheme of conduction mode in different speedsegment, speed closed loop and current adaptive control.The paper use matlab/simulink to simulate the control system and verify thefeasibility. From the cost and performance consideration, the system uses the MCUC8051F360as the controller chip. The hardware system include a single chip controller, apower converter, current and voltage detection circuit, switching power supply, rotorposition detection circuit and brake circuit. The software includes the position decoder,speed calculation process, different conduction mode, speed control mode, voltage controland current control algorithm in different speed section.Repeated experiments and the results verify the feasibility of the SRD, it achieves asmooth speed from50r/min to11000r/min and it can shutdown within2.5s frommaximum speed to zero speed. It has been successfully applied it to the cooking machine.It makes some reference value for SRM application in household applications.
