The amplitude of sloshing depends on a lot of factors, such as the natural frequencyof fluid, the constitutive property of structure and the frequency of external excitation. Theprimary object of this paper is to simulate the sloshing of a model tank by the finitevolume method. Then a result could work out by this method, and compare it withExperimental result. The further work is to study the factors which affect sloshingsignificantly. The main work of this paper is as follows:(1)It introduces three basic methods in sloshing research: Theory, Numerical studyand Experimental methods. Moreover, it expounds clearly the situation of study inSloshing of home and abroad. The basic theory and key point of Numerical study is alsoexplained.(2)It explains the four types of wave’s surface and the different kinds of force dueto tank sloshing, Equations, and the methods used in this paper which is the basic theoryof VOF method,, the experimental principle of similarity theory in tank sloshing.(3)Analysis the pressure time history and the free surface fluctuation picture of themodel tank liquid sloshing under different load levels, and compared its result withexperimental data, which verifies the methods used in this paper is reliable and available. And further amplified by the model to prove the similarly theory. Then study the sloshingtank with FPM method.(4)Studying the factors which affect sloshing, such as the natural frequencies offluid, the constitutive property of structure and the frequency of external excitation by theprimary model. Some factors, which are important in tank sloshing, are carried out bycomprehensive comparisons. Studying the factors of baffles which with different structure, dimensions, locations and holes in the sloshing tank.
