Since2008, the earthquake have brought serious disaster to our country. It sounded thealarm to the architectural design of the village houses. Thus we have studied the slidingisolation of rubber and ceramsite mixture (referred RCM). The RCM isolation pads arepaved between the upper structure and foundation. Its friction consumes a large amount ofseismic energy in the event of earthquake. The direct effect of the earthquake on the upperstructure will be reduced. Owing to drawn wide range of rubber and ceramsite and theirlow cost, the RCM isolation pad applies to a wide range of large towns and villages.Firstly through the horizontal shear and vertical compression test, the verticalstiffness, friction coefficient, damping ratio and other performance parameters of RCMisolation pads can be known. Then a model is build in ETABS finite element software tosimulate the actual structure. The isolated effect is studied through contrasting structuralvibration period, layer shear and displacement before and after isolation. Finally, amasonry building model is designed for shaking table test. We can Analysis the model’sresponse under incentive of three different seismic waves at different peak acceleration. The isolation cushion thickness, dense state and rubber ratio all have influence onisolation effect. The research results show that RCM isolation system is effective in major earthquake. The acceleration response of upper structure decreases, but the residual displacement ofisolation layer increases. the material properties, ratio, and thickness of RCM isolationcushion affect the seismic response of the isolated structure. Isolation effect changes invarious factors.
