Supported by Chinese Nature Science Foundation, Major National Science and TechnologyPrograms and the requirements from aviation manufacturing industry, the technology of CNCmachining condition on-line monitoring and identification based on feature for aircraft structural partsis deeply studied aiming at the problem of tool wear monitoring, tool breakage monitoring and chattermonitoring in complex machining condition of aircraft structural parts. The main achievements in thispaper are as follows:1) The dynamic monitoring method based on feature for CNC machining condition of aircraftstructural parts is proposed. The structural characteristics and process characteristics of aircraftstructural parts are summarized, and the characteristics of machining condition of aircraft structuralparts are researched. The effect of machining feature on monitor signal is investigated. Featureinformation model of dynamic on-line monitoring is constructed by integrating the information ofgeometry, process, monitoring strategy and monitoring signal of feature, which realizes machiningcondition monitoring of aircraft structural parts.2) Signal analyzing and machining condition identification methods of CNC machining based onfeature are studied. Monitor signal is analyzed by wavelet analysis to obtain signal characteristicsaccording to the characteristics of monitor signal. SVM theory is used for machining conditionrecognition.3) Framework of the monitoring method of CNC machining based on feature is studied, whichincludes off-line data preparation and on-line real time analysis. The framework integrates informationof geometry, technology, real-time cutting and online monitor signal. Host computer can achieveacquisition of real time machining information, monitor signal analyzing and machining conditionrecognition.4) The system of CNC machining condition on-line monitoring and identification based onfeature for aircraft structural parts based on second development platform of CATIA V5and VisualC++is developed, which has been applied and validated in a large-scale aeronautical manufacturingenterprise.
