Aircraft structural parts NC machining has the characteristics including many varieties, small batch, integration of scientific research and batch production. Traditional independent and centralized manufacturing mode has been unable to meet the requirements of aircraft structural parts NC machining. In order to address above issue, this paper makes a deep research on cloud manufacturing for aircraft structural parts NC machining, the main research achievements are as follows:(1) A cloud manufacturing service encapsulation method for aircraft structural parts NC machining is proposed. In order to address the issue of the existing cloud manufacturing service encapsulation methods rely on detailed machining process, which fails to protect the manufacturing service providers' private know-hows, a new cloud manufacturing architecture is given, in which manufacturing task description standard is established based on dynamic machining features and then the cloud manufacturing services could been capsulated inside the service providers. With this method, the manufacturing services could be well encapsulated and service providers' core know-hows never required outside.(2) An in-process oriented cloud manufacturing service selection method is proposed. For the question that existing cloud manufacturing service selection methods could not well support distributed machining for aircraft structural parts, a method of service-set generation method based on dynamic machining features is studied. A comprehensive optimisation model constrained by service quality is established, and genetic algorithm is applied to optimize cloud manufacturing service composition.(3) An adaptive process planning method for aircraft structural parts NC machining is studied. Due to the high uncertainty about the manufacturing resources in manufacturing service providers, optimal machining plans are difficult to be generated using most existing process planning methods. Dynamic machining feature Function Block is constructed. Machining features of aircraft structural parts could be generated adaptively according to the changes of manufacturing resources and machining requirements. As a result, optimal machining plans are able be obtained based on this adaptive feature model.(4) A cloud manufacturing prototype system for the aircraft structural parts NC machining is developed based on above research, the development environment, system function module design and database design of the prototype system are introduced in detail. Furthermore, a case is used to verify the function and operation flow of the system.
