The New District Space Morphology Of Yan’an City Based On Spatial Geomorphology Environmental Characteristics

With the development of people’s civilisation, especially after entering the timeof industrialization and post-industrialization, the size of cities is getting larger andlarger. However, the increasing speed of globalization and information are causingdifferent kinds of problems during the development of city. Most of the traditionalcivilization is shocked, which lead to the loss of speciality of cities. Finally, most ofthe construction styles of the cities are becoming similar and no further creativity.Yan’an, located in the area of hilly and gully region at loess plateau in the southof Shaanxi, is a traditional revolution city. Recently, with the speed up of urbanizationprogress, the development of energy economy and red tourist industry is becomingmore and more popular. This situation cause many serious problems to the city, suchas the confused abilities of the city, scenery take more field from the city, traffic jamand worse life environment and some other issues. It brings a big challenge to thisrevolution city. To ease the issues, the government of Yan’an put forward a strategynamed “dredge the middle of the city and external expansion, construct city to themountain”, which means reconstruct the city through renovating large area to bothease the pressure of the urban space and settle a new platform for moulding thecharacteristic of urban space.This paper will start from based on investigation of the environmentalcharacteristic of loess plateau and cultural of Yan’an city and research on evolution ofcentral urban area space of Yan’an city, then analysing the constrict of the landformenvironment to the structure, growth style and boundary model of the urban spacesystematic. Furthermore, the design of the urban space form will be divided into two levels, which are reason urban space form and perceptual urban space form. Someresearch method will be applied, such as the combination of technology and the citycultural connotation, generalization and summarization and multidisciplinary theories.More importantly, GIS tools will be used to analyse the geomorphic feature of newdistrict, and helping build the space form analysing model, then demonstration theadvantages and disadvantages of the scheme. Based on the proposed scheme, aguiding strategy of the functions and structures, fields and boundaries, height andoutline and space axes of the new district space form will be recommended.
