The H-beams with corrugated webs are used to increase the shear stability of thewebs and to eliminate the need for transverse stiffeners with small thickness.Reviousresearch shows that the depth-thickness ratio of the corrugated web can reach600,sothis beam can effectively save quantity of steel. The H-beams with corrugated webs caneffectively improve the mechanical properties and improving economic indicators,nowhas become a hot topic in the research.On the basis of preceding research,the bearing capacity of H-beams withtrapezoidal corrugated steel webs are analysised and summarised. The main work is asfollows:(1) This paper summarizes previously developed formulas for predicting the shearstrength of steel trapezoidal corrugated webs.Test results from previous research arethen organized.The various formulas for predicting the local and global shear bucklingcoefficients kL and kG are then compared with test results.Through comparison withtest results,some recommentation local and global shear buckling formula are proposed.(2) The test specimens are modeled using finite elements and the computerprogram ABAQUS is used to perform nonlinear analysis. The comparison between theresults from the finite-element analysis and the test results is satisfactory.So thefinite-element method of analysis can be used to conduct parametric studies tounderstand the behavior of corrugated webs with variable dimensions.(3) In this paper, the bearing capactity of H-beams with trapezoidal corrugatedwebs is numerically studied using a non-linear finite element method.The followinggeometric parametes that influence the bearing capactity of such girders are investigated:the depth of the corrugations;the flat panel width; the corrugation angle; the length ofgirder;the web height;the web thickness.Based on the numerical results,suggestions fordesign of such girder are given.
