The new round of macroeconomic development stimulates consumption andboosts the demand of container, which challenges the size and efficiency of port. Inaddition to geographical position and economical hinterland, operation efficiency isalso a crucial factor in the competition between container terminals. Demands for fast,just-in-time and flexible service from carriers and clients become much more urgentwith the influence of logistics and supply chain management. How to rapidly handlecontainers in container terminal turns to be one of the hottest problems needed to besolved. Based on container terminal of H Port, a simulation model of containerhandling system is built by applying queuing theory and Flexsim simulationtechnology. Analyses on the system bottlenecks and causes are carried out by figuringout the system output index such as ship stay time, throughput, container turnaroundtime, equipment occupying rate on the basis of which, a series of optimizationapproaches to solve the problems are proposed. From production efficiency point ofview, optimization analysis on a container terminal system is discussed.
