The Research Of Green Infrastructure

After the reform and opening up, China’s rapid urban expansion triggers theneglect of nature’s service that a vast amount of artificial systems were created to satisfythe need of citizens. Moreover, because of the relatively lower economic benefitsof nature areas, plenty of them were invaded which results in the increasingdeteriorations of ecological environments and the decline of city’s immunityagainst nature hazards. As a popular framework for smart growth andconservation, urban green infrastructure aims at constructing a natural supportsystem in urbanized areas through protecting nature resources and consideringsocial, economic and cultural elements. The stability of this framework couldnot only guarantee the security and stability of ecological environments, butalso offer a basic development control framework and finally provide afoundation for city’s future sustainable development.The conception of urban green infrastructure derives from America in the1990sand from the aspect of “valid guarantees of natural support systems”,“reasonableprotections of land resources” and “effective control of urban sprawl”, it emphasizes thesignificant role of green infrastructure system during the construction of futuresustainable cities. This article gives an outline of this concept and its origin,development, planning principles, and analysis of some typical planning projects.After that, this article illustrates a real planning program which is about the greeninfrastructure planning of Wuyi Town in Xinjiang. Based on the relative therories andapproaches of green infrastructure, this reaserch builds the green infrastructure systemfrom three aspects: strategy, countermeasure and solutions.And then, according to national condition, it generalizes several main problems ofgreen infrastructure planning in China and sums up some aspects that need to beemphasized and ameliorated. These suggestions may offer some enlightenment forresolving the great conflicts between ecological environment and the protection of landresources, and realizing the sustainable development of China cities.
