Early damage of the cement concrete bridge deck with asphalt concrete pavementstructure is relevant to the destruction and ineffectiveness of the waterproofing and bondinglayer. Its service time is directly influenced by the design of waterproofing and bonding layerand choices of materials, which even affects the safety and durability of the bridgeconstruction. So it is necessary to carry on research on material performance and roadperformance of waterproofing and bonding layer between the cement concrete bridge deckand the pavement layer.First, we investigated and analyzed the damage of the bridge pavement, and wespeculated that the shear damage came from the loading impact which the vehicles caused.Then we carried on a mechanical calculation to analyze its failure mechanism, and we got thatthe maximum shearing stress is the interlayer shear stress τyzin longitudinal direction, whichhappened between the waterproofing and bonding layer and the cement concrete bridge deck.And the load in the bridge deck pavement system, waterproofing and bonding layer, thicknessof concrete pavement asphalt layer and the influence of the modulus to the shear stressbetween the layers of analysis and evaluation were also calculated.Next, we chose SBS modified asphalt emulsion as a study object to conduct a researchon the waterproofing and bonding material, and analyzed its preparation procedure and compatible design of the raw material. Then SBS modified asphalt emulsion was examined,whose overall performance index was compared with the SBR modified asphalt emulsion, theEVA modified asphalt emulsion and the common modified asphalt emulsion. Throughperformance contrast test, we found that the three indicators of evaporation residue of SBSmodified emulsified asphalt are superior to the other three kinds of emulsified asphalt, whichshowed that it had a good performance of high and low temperature; because of its highviscosity, the emulsion stability was slightly lower, but it could still meet the requirements ofspecification.At last, based on the four such indoor tests: direct shear test and drawing test, waterseepage test and anti-scouring test, we analyzed their road performance and relevantinfluencing factors. Through the experimental study on temperature, water, freezing and thawing, we analyzed their effects on shear strength. The tests showed that the SBS modifiedemulsified asphalt has the maximum shear strength and pull strength after the soaking test,freezing and thawing test., and after freezing and thawing, the shear strength and the pullstrength decreased slightly, which indicated that it has better abilities of water damageresistance and freezing-thawing resistance, and also perfect performance of waterproof andanti-erosion. Meanwhile, we studied the engineering economy of SBS modified asphaltemulsion, if we add a waterproofing and bonding layer, the cost will increase by5.34yuanper square meter, but maintenance costs will decrease by41.59yuan per square meter,which showed obvious economic efficiency.
