With the advantages of small land occupation and high automation, the application of stereo garage has got more and more attention. However, it also has the disadvantages of the long time for paking and getting cars and unstable performance. As a result, designing a new typeof stereo garage to meet the demand of modern development is a research hotspot. By analyzing on the features of existing stereo garages, a mechanical and rotating stereo garage basing on gravity balance is proposed in this paper to resolving the state of less land in our country. The key technologies about working principle, structure optimization and control system are researched as follows:Based on modular method, the main functional modules are divided according to correlation matrix constructed by similar degree, and the possible schemes are got by morphologicalmatrix method, and then the mechanical and rotating stereo garage basing on gravity balance is selected by fuzzy comprehensive evaluation. Besides, considering self-weight, wind and inertial load, the strength and stiffness of wheel and carriage structures are analyzed and optimized based on ANSYS and orthogonal test technology. Moreover, the time and energy consumption optimization model for packing and getting cars is built and simulated by MATLAB. Finally, the monitoring system for mechanical and rotating stereo garage is designed, and the computer-aided information management and monitoring softwore is developed based on KingView softwore and Access database technology.In comparing to other types of stereo garages, the mechanical and rotating stereo garageproposed in this paper has the advantages of gravity balance, less energy consumption, small land occupation and low cost for construction and opertion. By integrating with landscape design, it is suitable for city residential area construction.
