Preparation And Utilize Of Snowmelt Admixture For Asphalt Pavement

Pavement freezing in winter will significantly endanger the security of traffic. Asa result, people are paying increasing attention to the development of pavement andtraffic security operation affected by pavement freezing. To ensure the unobstructedroad and traffic safety, effective solutions of eliminating ice and snow on pavementshould be adopted to avoid traffic accident and to boost traffic capacity and operatingefficiency. Adding snowmelt admixture to asphalt pavement will melt ice and snow onpavement, with the effective ingredient separating out of pavement. Pavement withthis property is called snowmelt asphalt pavement.According to the summary of the merit and demerit of snowmelt pavementtechnology home and abroad, this paper analyzed the effect of snowmelt admixture.Coarse aggregate is determined based on freezing point depression theory, thermaleffect of the solute and physical and chemical effects. According to the film test, thetype of coating sustained-release material is determined. Corrosion crust materials aredetermined in the light of mental corrosion theory and granulation workability. Thenself-developed device is utilized to produce snowmelt admixture. The snowmeltperformance of this admixture is tested and six kinds of optimized snowmeltadmixture is determined by optimization method. By controlling the key indicator ofvoid ratio, the mix proportion of snowmelt asphalt mixture can be determined byadding snowmelt admixture using the additive method. The test of water stability ofsnowmelt asphalt mixture is conducted, which can determine the optimal snowmeltadmixture. The water stability, high temperature stability, low temperature crackresistance, aggregate flying resistance and skid resistance of asphalt mixture adding“Iceguard” is tested. The results show all properties can meet the operatingrequirements. At the same time, the pavement performance after “Iceguard”separates out can satisfy the operating requirements. Short term snowmeltperformance test is conducted by using self-developed short term snowmeltperformance testing device and no-snow-rate method. On this basis, natural soakingtest and accelerated soaking test of snowmelt asphalt mixture are put forward, and the regression fitting model evaluating long term snowmelt performance is raised. In theend, the test road is paved to evaluate the performance of snowmelt pavement.
