As one of the principal parts, the frame is the FSAE racing car carrier of most ofthe parts and assemblies, it supports the related parts of all sprung mass, such asengine, deflector, tank and driver and so on, meanwhile it receive the different kindsof force and moment which all sprung mass hand down to. Wherefore, the frameshould have adequate strength, appropriate stiffness, reasonable dynamic behaviorand light-weight degree.In this paper ADAMS/car virtual prototype simulation software is used toestablish the entire car dynamics model of FSAE racing car, some simulation ofmulti-condition simulation for FSAE racing car is done, combined with relatedrequirements and regulations, and the stress of different parts and frame conjunctionat each condition of FSAE racing car is determined; then ANSYS finite elementanalysis software is used to proceed the analyses of finite element strength, stiffnessand modality for FSAE racing car; in the end the frame is optimized to get the FSAEracing car which have higher security, better handling stability and higher light-weightdegree, meanwhile provide theoretical basis and suggest.According to the finite element analysis of FSAE racing car, in this paper thestrength, stiffness and modality of the frame is checked, in different conditions themaximum stress of the frame is less than the material permissible stress; and theinherent frequency of the frame is within the non-resonance region of racing car, sothe strength and dynamic behavior both are useless to optimize; the stiffness of theframe have the space of optimization, so in this paper the stiffness of the frame isoptimized to get the frame which have higher stiffness for enhance the handlingstability and the ability to resist deformation of FSAE racing car.
