With the continuous improvement of economic level in China and an increasing numberof car ownership, the incidence of road traffic accidents is becoming more and more high.Over-speed driving is the main reason of causing traffic accidents. A reasonable set up ofroad deceleration facilities will be very helpful to control the vehicle speed and reduce thetraffic accidents. But the specifications and quality standards of the speed hump in the marketare still not clear. In order to effectively protect the personal and transportation safety, reducethe happening of traffic accident, it’s necessary to research the design and use of the speedhump.First of all, this paper makes a comprehensive introduction of the different classificationof speed control facility and some common speed control facilities based on the domestic andforeign research situation of road speed control facilities, and does some research for thespeed control theories and characteristics of the speed control facilities. Focus on the speedhump which is a kind of mandatory speed control facilities, it put forward the design principleof the ideal speed bumps. Then it also analysis the mathematical model of the vehicle withpassing the speed hump, and use the car body vertical acceleration and the wheel dynamicload as response index to evaluate the vehicle pass process of speed hump.Secondly, through the virtual prototype software ADAMS/CAR, based on the templateparameters file modifications, it establishes the subsystems of two vehicles which containsvehicle power transmission system, steering system, suspension system, tire, body subsystem,etc. Then assembly them to become the full vehicle model. According to the requirements andgoals of the test, establishes the B class road and speed hump of different specificationsmodels through the software to be prepared for the next step of the test.Finally, it gets the test curves of the speed humps with the full vehicle road simulationmodule in ADAMS/CAR. Then makes the vehicle ride comfort test on the height and width ofthe road speed humps. Based on the data, obtains the different impacts of the speed humpshapes and the different demands of the speed humps for different cars, and put forward aright way of passing the speed hump. The research conclusion about the shape size of the speed humps impact on the vehicleride comfort, can provide certain reference for reasonable design of speed bumps.
