During the operation of a hydropower unit, unusual vibration caused by some factorswould make parts of the unit fatigued and even damaged, which seriously affects the safeand economic operation of the power plant. Vibration monitoring is an effective way topromote the efficiency of maintenance and reduce the probability of units fault, whichappears to be more and more important in the operation and maintenance of hydropowerunits.The technologies of condition-based maintenance of hydropower units includevibration monitoring, vibration signal processing and analysis, fault diagnosis, etc. Beaimed at all above characteristics, based on Windows XP, using C++Builder6andMATLAB as programming tools, we have developed the vibration of hydropower unitsmonitoring and analysis system, it colligated computer technology, signal processingtechnology, fault diagnosis, etc. This system can realize the function of multi-channel dataacquisition, data storage, and realize vibration signal processing including time domain,frequency domain signal processing.The system consists of two parts, analysis subsystem of data acquisition system basedon DSP and vibration of hydropower units monitoring software. Data acquisition systemuses the chip TMS320F2812as the CPU, using the chip MAX1168to achieve high-precision analog-digital conversion, using the network protocols chip W5100to achievefast Ethernet communication. DSP data acquisition system collects analog signals of partsof the hydropower unit, such as vibration, swing, pressure pulsation, temperature and oilpressure, then converts analog signals into digital signal by conditioning, filtering and A/Dsampling conversion, and finally sends the digital signal to PC through Ethernet. OnBorland’s C++Builder6we have developed vibration monitoring and analysis softwarefor hydropower units which provides various of graph and chart analysis functionincluding the time-domain analysis, spectrum analysis, phase analysis, bar graph,numerical form, waterfall, three-dimensional hologram, etc, realizing visualization of themonitoring. The monitoring and analysis software features a rich, well-designed interface,and meets the requirements of practical application.
