The hydro-pneumatic suspension(HPS) is widely used in variety of vehicles because ofits excellent damping properties. However, there are many technical issues need to bestudied and solved when the HPS is used in specific vehicle. This paper takes theindependent HPS of seven bridge fully hydraulic chassis system as research object andcarries out modeling, simulation optimization, etc.Firstly, the non-ideal characteristic model of hydro-pneumatic in big excitation is builtafter studying of the cavity and distortion principle of the fluid in the cylinder according tononlinear mathematical model. The simulation results are in good agreement with theexperimental results. The effect regular on the stiffness and damping characteristics by thechange of parameters such as the accumulator parameters, orifice diameter and suspensioncylinder diameter is analyzed. Then a combination simulation between a quarter car modeland HPS model is adopted to analyze dynamic response characteristics of the body verticaldisplacement, velocity, acceleration and suspension dynamic displacement, wheel dynamicload by step and pulse excitation to determine the smoothness index optimization. At last,the structural parameters optimization design of HPS unit is achieved and the optimizingresults obtained through the genetic algorithms are taken in simulation model. The vehiclewith different speed passes through urban grade C random road model. The curves of bodyvertical acceleration, wheels dynamic load and suspension dynamic deflection containingthe optimization information are got. The contrast of those roots mean square value of theabove shows the vehicle’s ride comfort is improved largely and the conclusions are of greatguidance value for product designing.
