Modern botanical gardens whose main tasks are protecting plant resources andpromoting plant knowledge are followed with interest in recent years because of thedevelopment of technology and people’s rising consciousness of living environment. Howto undertake the functions of both entertainment and education is worthy to be thought bybotanical garden design builders for plant landscape is the most important landscape inbotanical gardens.Beijing Botanical Garden is the largest botanical garden in north China. It embracesexhibition greenhouse with advanced equipment and many historical site. The environmentis beautiful, cultural heritage is rich. There are a lot of merit to be learned about designconcept and the layout of its plant landscape.Firstly, this paper elaborates domestic and international research overview of plantlandscape and botanical garden plant landscape starting from the research background,introduces Beijing Botanical Garden North District from four aspects: geography andclimate, culture and history, construction and development, planning and layout to identifydistributed status quo of36plant landscape classical cases.Secondly, the thesis summariesplant landscape construction methods and plant configuration modes focusing on its plantlandscape by surveying, measuring and drafting. Thirdly, this paper makes a briefevaluation of the plant landscape from the arrangement of space, the seasonal landscapesand the science education. Lastly, this paper points out some problems such as the linkbetween the exhibition areas and the water areas, the hierarchy of plant landscapes and theexpansion of educational function, and proposes some optimization strategies to providesome practical document for other botanical gardens in Huabei District.
