The rectifier transformer is the most important device of the large-power rectifiersystem.There is a closely relationship between the loss of rectifier transformer and thechange of oil temperature. The resistance of transformer winding and equipmentoperating loss will increase when the temperature of oil and winding increased.Theservice life of the rectifier transformer will sharply reduce if it runs in a abnormalhigh temperatures for a long-term.Auxiliary heat dissipation of cooling equipment is necessary for the high powerrectifier transformer in chemical electrolysis industry to ensure its temperature rise inthe scope of national standard. From the point of comprehensive energy saving, usingcooling equipment can reduce rectifier transformer’s consumption on one hand andincreases loss of cooling equipment on the other. So there will be a certain balancewhich adjusts to an economic operating range between aforementioned.From the energy saving point on operation and management of the large-powerrectifier transformer, the paper has carried out these following research works.The requires of the development of national economy, high power consumptionenterprise optimize cost structure and the energy saving and emissions reduction toelectric power development, present situation and the main direction of the energysaving of large-power rectifier system have been analysed and elaborated, and newideas for research of the rectifier transformer’s energy saving has been put forward inthe paper from the perspective of economic operation and management.Combined with the engineering application data of some rectifier transformers inan aluminum company, the paper analysis the relationship between the rectifiertransformer loss and the temperature rise under the condition of current and coolingpower is constant.Based on engineering data in the actual operation, analysed and studied therelationship of cooler power and high-power rectifier transformer oil temperature.According to the research work done above, calculate the oil temperature rangeunder the condition of the sum of the rectifier transformer and the cooler loss isminimum or optimal operation, using genetic algorithm to optimize computing.Through the oil temperature range, estimate rectifier transformer loss and cooler power, and compare with the initial condition, suggests that optimization bringsenergy saving.
