Digital simulation of power system plays an increasingly important role in thefields of power system design, planning, operation and analysis. Measurement-basedapproach for load modeling is based on system identification theory, and the modelingdata is directly from the actual system, so the identification result has a high degree ofreliability. However, the lack of data sources becomes the obstacle of its development.The Wide Area Measurement System(WAMS) based on Phasor MeasurementUnit(PMU) can record dynamic data of the grid under synchronization time scale andupload to the monitoring center according to the communication protocol. These datacan be used effectively on the monitoring and analyzing of the power system, andprovide a new data source to on-line analysis and control of the power system.This paper proposes the application of PMU data in Measurement-based loadmodeling, and expand in-depth study around this topic. Firstly, the working principleand basic structure of WAMS/PMU are introduced in detail, and the characteristicsand encoding rules of the PMU data file are analyzed. In view of the fact that PMUdata can not be directly used for load modeling, the necessity of data processing isanalyzed, and further brought about the overall implementation of consolidated loadonline dynamic modeling using PMU data.Secondly, as the main station of PMU, the Electric Power Dispatching Centerstorage the PMU dynamic file that the sub-station transferred. So the author designs ainterface program which can automatically obtain the PMU data files from the WAMSdata platform, and develops a modeling platform, which can achieve the PMU dataacquisition, format conversion, data preprocessing and measurement-based modeling.In the implementation of the platform, object-orient visual programming technologyis used.Finally, by analyzing the fitting of the model response and the measured responseof the sample data, the validity of the data processing and the applicability ofmodeling platform is verified.Comprehensive load online modeling platform based on the research of this paper has been put into actual operation,and becomes an efficient technical support for onlineload modeling.
