From the perspective of particularity of interaction design, this paper definesaffordance as a kind of design inspiration to behavior. It means that design affordsome inspiration to possible interaction. This interaction-centered affordance is kindof a "mental switch" to automatic behavior, a key that directs people to have theknowledge of interactive products and ways about how to interact with them, and amethod to generate instinct behavior and help people to take effective movements.This paper analyzes the differences between interactive world with the objectiveworld, and points out that the interaction design affordance is an artifact affordance inthe interactive environment. It means that the interaction design affordance is openand particular, not have to obey any rule or logic of the real world, which also meansthat people have to interact with products in a specific way to make it work andachieve their purpose. These features make it important that users must understand thevery affordance properly and well to get better interactive experience. In this way, thispaper classifies the affordance as operating affordance and functional affordance,explore what affordance features are, studies how to present affordance and how toguide and constrain individual behavior and thoughts through affordance in differentdesign to obtain better interactive experience.In the part of practice, starting from two key factors, individual unconscious andhabits, that impact human cognition and behavior, this paper construct three modelsabout affordance—unconscious acquisition model, experience model, behavior andhabit model. Then the paper analyzes features of these models and finds out waysabout how to revel them in design layout and design details. According to the contentand characteristic of practice projects, this paper present these models in these designproposal. Though analyzing design problems, taking user assessment, doingcomparative analysis, making design interactions, design and demonstratingpsychology models, this paper studies how to take use of and present different modelsof affordance features in practice to reduce cognitive burden on use, create a greatexperience and make interaction design vivid and have a good usability. All thesestudies prove this research is meaningful, has theoretical value, practical value andprospect in interaction design field.The value of good presentation of interaction design affordance lies in the fact that making use of visual, audio and other kind of media to express the function,operation, spirit and connotation of interaction design, to lead and constrain behavior.Design should use different patterns of affordance, such as nested affordance to helpto establish cognition of function and operating ways, offer help when people use,reduce mistakes, reduce the burden of cognition and memory, improve designusability and interactive experience.
