Research On Li Shan Town Village Space Layout And Change In Sui County In Past20Years

Natural villages are the natural settlement in rural areas of China where people spontaneously live together. It is the basic unit of farmers’daily life and communication.Natural villages result from the needs of social production the development. It has existed for thousands of years as the inevitable product of the progress of human civilization. As mankind meets the modern civilization, especially in the twenty-first century, China’s urban or rural areas are undergoing enormous changes. The market economy enters into the fast lane with the ever-changing social outlook and its GDP has maintained a rapid growth. As social and economic standards improve day by day, people’s way of life and production are also changing as well as their requirement for a better quality of life. The original settlement pattern of living on what the land provides has failed to meet people’s housing and living needs, especially in some areas with harsh living environment where poor villagers long for better living conditions.With the steady development of China’s urbanization and new rural construction, more and more rural people turn into city or town residents, or move to new places with the unified planning and construction and relatively complete living facilities. This directly leads to the decline and atrophy of natural villages.The factors affecting the layout and evolution of natural village are complicated. This paper is trying to explore the reasons from the following aspects:economic environment, natural environment, social environment, family structure, urbanization and national rural policies.Sui County as the hometown of Emperor Yan is a natural village with a long history. With the social and economic development and changes in family structure, the pattern of the village has gone though earth-shaking changes. This paper attempts to explore external factors associated with the changes of Sui County in the past20years, and to analyze the significance of natural villages’existence in terms of the evolution of its layout as well as the impact on the development of villages from the social economy.At last, several suggestions of the development of natural villages will be given.
