With the rapid development of national economy, expressway has entered the large-scale construction period in our country. Since China’s first expressway, Shanghai Hujia Expressway’s Construction in1984, the total mileage of expressway has increased a lot. By the end of2011,the total expressway mileage in China has reached eighty-five thousand kilometers, which ranked second in the world. Although the construction of expressway has brought enormous economic and social benefits to the area along the line, we should also pay enough attention to the damage made by the construction of expressway. So it is necessary to carry out environmental impact assessment of construction period and actualize the computer aided visualization in the project of expressway construction. This thesis was supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China(51078361) and the Transportation Technology Projects of Hunan Province(200743). Took Chenzhou to Ningyuan Expressway in Hunan Province for the example to study environmental impact assessment of construction period and the computer aided visualization in the project of expressway construction. The author has carried out the research work as follows:First of all, the basic concepts and theories involved in the EIA in construction phase and the computer aided visualization in the project of expressway construction were summarized and concluded in the thesis.Secondly, the concept, significance, basis and method of environmental monitoring during the construction period of expressway were systematically summarized. Both monitoring index system and EIA index system of highway construction period were established in the paper. The EIA model during the construction of expressway and the comprehensive weighting method which intergrated subjective and objective weight calculation method were set up based on the basis of summarization of research in both here and abroad in this field.Thirdly, the Google Earth-based program for EIA in construction phase of expressway has taken shape initially through the secondary development by using Visual C#2010. The function of map browsing in Google Earth and the function of data management in SQL Server2008were used in the program to actualize the visualization of EIA in expresswayconstruction period.Finally, Hunan Chenzhou to Ningyuan Expressway was taken as the example to verify the effectiveness of the Google Earth-based program for EIA in construction phase of expressway.
