As the progress and development of social and economic, the freeway build before does not meet current traffic volume demand, urging the freeway to renovation and expansion. It’s driven by supply and demand relationship, and freeway expansion project will become the new hot spot for future freeway construction. During the renovation and expansion of the freeway, road traffic organization project is a major issue and the difficulty problem.This article is analyzed from the traffic characteristics of highway renovation and expansion, and traffic flow characteristics, impact of road capacity.Traffic characteristics during the freeway renovation and expansion are divided into driver behavior, vehicle operating characteristics and the basic characteristics of road construction. Analyzing master drivers, vehicles and road construction relationships and interactions among environmental characteristics is important. Traffic flow characteristics mainly include traffic volume, speed, traffic composition, headways, traffic density, driveways and other areas share characteristics. Analysis of road capacity factors, use the methods of correction factors methods based on the basic sections to calculate road capacity. Traffic organization plan including subgrade, pavement, mainline bridge, cross the bridge on, interchange construction traffic organization service area, as well as the regional road network traffic organization plan, and set up traffic organize safety measures.Traffic organization design in freeway expansion project is directly related aspects to the merits of the project and the social and economic, the scientific and rational evaluation traffic organization plan is particularly important. Using simulation professional software VISSIM to evaluate, draw the traffic organization plan evaluation results. Through the traffic organization plan evaluation criteria, the use of dynamic comprehensive evaluation method to determine the level of traffic organization program indicators. Through traffic organization evaluation results of the evaluation to determine traffic organization plan reasonable and feasible.
