As one of the most influential factors for the safety of vehicles and foot passengers, street lamps consume much energy. Because of the simple control mode and the poor flexibility, the traditional lamps are sometimes off when we need lighting, while they are on when we don’t need lighting. Even when there are few vehicles, the lamps are on all night long. It results in unnecessary waste of power resources. In the face of energy crisis, saving energy for street lamps is particularly important.LED street lamps, as a new and green lighting source, gradually become the main source of road lighting because of starting fast, using lower supplied voltage, dimming easily and many other advantages. On the basis of this new light source, this thesis studys on energy-saving control method based on fuzzy technology for LED Street Lamps. Two fuzzy controlers are designed according to the switch and dimming for the lamps, which are controlled by the environmental illumination. At daybreak and dusk, when environmental illumination is greater than zero, fuzzy controler of FC1is designed, which real-time collects environmental illumination, then uses multi-sensor information fusion method to reject the value of the mutation. After its treatment of illumination and its variation rate are taken as the input variables. The control of switching and dimming for LED lamps is taken as the output variable. At night, when the environmental illumination is close to zero, fuzzy controler of FC2is designed. Traffic flow and its variation rate, the highest road speed limit are taken as the inputs variables, the output variable is the output power for LED lamps, which can be changed from30%to100%. And this paper describes in detail the detection technology of environmental illumination and the detection technology of vehicles based on headlight, which includes headlights extraction, matching and counting. It also introduces the design scheme of two fuzzy controllers.Finally, the numerical simulation in MATLAB and analysis on the practical measured data show that the system can adjust the output power of LED street lamps based on the weather, traffic flow and other real-time environment parameter to get the better lighting quality and energy-saving effect. The proposed system not only provides reasonable illumination for safe-driving, but also consumes the lower electric energy. In particular, the energy-saving effect of the proposed method is more obvious on urban roads where there are fewer vehicles.
