Wheel loader is the most widely used construction machinery in today’s construction projects, it plays an important role in the national economy. Due to the harsh environments, wheel loader suffers from the complex and changeable loads. As the core component of the loader working device, the boom bears the main load. In this paper, boom of CLG855wheel loader was studied, and some features of boom were optimized to meet the wheel loader’s working capability. Main researches in this paper as follows:1) Drawing the S-N curve. First, the cycles of boom by steel Q345, was got through the standard sample test methods; secondly, according to the standard GB/T3075, the conditional fatigue was calculated and the S-N curve of steel Q345using the statistics methods and "lifting law" method to process the test data, which can provide data for the subsequent fatigue calculation.2) Calculating the force of hinge point. This paper introduces six types of operating wheel loader and the force characteristics. The force of hinge point was calculated through professional software, especially in the four typical operating types (eight working conditions), which provide data for analyzing the static strength of boom.3) Analyzing the static strength of boom and estimate the fatigue life. Main task includes setting up the model of the finite element analysis for static strength and the geometric of boom. And optimized the design of the boom’s according to the analysis result and the feedback from market, and then estimates the optimization of the wheel loader boom.4) Testing the stress points of boom. Through simulating the four typical types of operating wheel loader and testing key points on the boom under the typical load, find out the maximum stress point. Comparing the test data and the results of finite element analysis, the facticity and reliability of finite element analysis were validated。...
