As a kind of power saving technology, economic operation of transformer closely associated optimization theory and the quantitative calculation method with all kinds of actual operation conditions of transformer. Reducing the energy loss in the process of power grid operation is one of the most important methods to improve the power grid operation efficiency.In this paper, Overseas and domestic research status have been comprehensively analysed. For the transformer economic operation analysis problems, the advantages and disadvantages of resent transformer economical operation analysis methods used in the actual application was discussed. Combining the reality of power grid operation, a transformer economic operation analysis method based on the day time loss assessment was presented. Transformer loss calculation methods in various operation conditions were derived. The validity and feasibility of the methods were verified by the actual example.Combining with the characteristics of SCADA system data,data structures of curcuit breaker、bus and transformer as well as relationships between circuit breaker measurement power value、bus load statistical and the lateral load of transformer were established, which reasonably simplify the structure of system data.Regional power transformer economic operation decision system using day time loss assessment of transformer economic operation analysis method and combining with the characteristics of regional power grid operation was researched. The system had advantages of simple maintenance interface and small maintenance has successfully applied in the actual operation of regional power at Lianyungang.The results showed that the power saving effect was remarkable.5substation in Lianyungang had savd71663kWh in a month leading to30%of energy saving rate. Due to the emissions of carbon dioxide has been reduced; a direct economic benefits were more than40000yuan, which produced good economic benefit and social benefit.
