With the continuous development of the economy, the car ownership is also constantlyascension, so the road traffic accidents have become one of the important issues that peopleincreasingly focus on. In all types of the road traffic accidents, the death rate caused byrollover is the highest although the proportion of the vehicle rollover is not high. In theprocess of the vehicle rollover, the car roof is easy to generate large deformation because thecar roof and side parts is the thinner parts of the vehicle intensity, which exists safe hiddentrouble for the passengers. In order to improve the safety performance of the vehicles, vehicledynamic rolling simulation experiment and the strength analysis is very necessary.Firstly, this topic briefly introduces the car crash simulation theory. Secondly, establishthe full finite element model of the vehicle simulation collision and the dolly according to thecode. The evaluations of the simulation calculation results are made on the roof intrusion、theroof stress and the roof deformation. Eventually come to the conclusion that there is a hiddendanger for the passengers due to the insufficient strength of the automotive B pillar and theroof. Based on the evaluations of the simulation calculation results, the paper puts forward thecorresponding optimization measures, which improve the car roll crash safety performance.Through the simulation of the vehicle track compared with the test data from abroad,found the simulation track in accordance with the basic experiment data, which verified thecorrectness of the vehicle model and the dolly. The simulation calculation results that are usedfor further research are accurate and reliable. The middle and front roof area appeared largerdeformation in the process of the car body contacting with the road, which has seriouslyaffected the passengers’ living space, so the rolling collision safety performance has to beimproved. Under the crashworthiness design principles, putting forward the optimizationscheme of the vehicle body: adding the middle beam between the car around B column andstrengthening the thickness of the B column and the connected components. The abovemeasures make the plastic deformation of the middle and front roof area decrease obviously.It has left enough living space for the passengers and greatly improved the safety of the caroccupant.
