Recent years, the campus landscape design in the Chinese high schools is more and more reasonable and scientific, with the methods and concepts of modern landscape design in sync with the world. Good campus environment could not only create a rich landscape with space level and an environmental space for education and recreation, but also make the plants and creatures in a stable ecological chain to provide space and help for teaching in the school. Hence, it is helpful to promote the development of landscape design on our school campus by carrying out a study of the micro topography and the characteristic plants in high school campus. We raised the theory and methods about the campus landscape design of the high schools. In order to research on the topography and the plant in high school campus, the author has investigated the topography and the plant in totally ten high schools.Firstly, the author summarized the previous theory and methods about topography and characteristic plants design of the high school campus, by reading a lot of literature. The author also expounded latest research progress on the high school campus landscape design. This provides theoretical guidance for this article.Secondly, we investigated the landscape of a total of ten high schools in Changsha city and the surrounding region. We have got the defect existing in the campus landscape design by the process of data collection, questionnaire and analysis about the status of campus landscape, mainly including:Landscape designs is relatively simple, as well as the lack of change and coordinate with other landscape elements; The plant species is deficient with monotonous level and instable community; The effects of campus landscape is not reflected in the teaching of biology.Thirdly, on the one hand, by using the basic principles and claim of the landscape design to satisfy the requirements of the teaching of high school biology and geography curriculum, several important mode on the high school campus landscape design was proposed, including attached-to-wall rockeries, rockery waterfalls, mountain streams, rolling style, mountain drop-offs and a catchment of the pond.Fourthly, according to the feature of landscape to deploy with characteristic plants, a characteristic campus landscape can be built with rich stereoscopic environment. Based on the basic principles and characteristics of the plant configuration, we proposed the following mode including garden flower borders, types of wood, symmetry, group plantings, mixed style and determinant.Fifthly, the research results about the design mode of landscape and plant were successfully applied to the in Hunan province. First, we generalized the applications of the landscape and plant design in high school campus. The campus was divided into different areas to meet the objective requirements of the teaching of biology curriculum, as well as provide the places for outdoor teaching.
