Based on GIS technology and landscape pattern index taking Zonghan subdistrict in Cixi cityas a case study, this paper was analyzed the characteristics of the landscape pattern in study area, confirmed the town core green patches which were classified three types of central, key andprimary patch connected with the evaluation of landscape centrality index such as degree andcloseness centrality. Further, the ecological suitability analysis and the least-cost path model wereutilized to establish the potential ecological corridors of the town green land system. Results showed that there were a total of53green patches which composed the core area ofecological network in town green land. A number of14potential ecological corridors wereplanned to connect the distribution of green land resources and the town core green patches inorder to construct the town ecological green network system. Using network indices such as α, β, γindices, an optimal planning scenario was selected among those planning scenarios of ecologicalnetworks. This paper showed that the greenbelt plan for the centre area of Zonghan was animprovement as indicated by a decrease in patch density and increase in edge density, mean patchfractal dimension on the patch level landscape diversity, landscape evenness, and landscapeconnectivity. Compared to the existing greenbelt system plan the optimal planning scenario wouldimprove the network connectivity and network circuitry considerably. According to the finalplanning to build the space structure of "two corridors, four gardens, five areas, six belts, somepoints ", and build a green ecological network system. The comprehensive methods supported by landscape pattern metrics, least-cost path model, and landscape centrality could be useful to evaluate present town green land system, optimizetown ecological green network and supply the scientific basis for ecological network planning andmanagement in town green land system.
