Cold recycling technology can reused the old asphalt pavement materialswhich is different with the traditional technology. It can save resources andprotect the environment, which is a sustainable development technology. Peoplepay attention on the technology as more as lots of asphalt pavements had movedinto the period of maintenance. The paper researched the mechanism of asphalt aging and regeneration. Then the technology was researched on this basis. First of all, the performance ofthe old asphalt mixture was evaluated through laboratory experiments. Its oldaggregate and the aging asphalt were evaluated. Second, cold recycling agingasphalt pavement by adding SBS modified emulsified asphalt and cement withthe conclusions of laboratory test. The method of cold recycling and thegradation of mixture were studied. Contrastive test showed that SBS modifiedasphalt emulsion can improve strength of the cold recycled mixtures significantlycompared to ordinary emulsified asphalt. But the specimen density, porosity, bitumen saturation index was less affected. Finally, performance of the modifiedasphalt cold recycling mixture is studied in the high temperature stability, lowtemperature crack resistance and water stability. The experiments showed thatsplitting strength and water stability of the recycled mixtures were improved byadding cement. The reticulate structure of SBS modified emulsified asphaltwhich has high softening point can increases viscosity and elastic of the asphaltsystem, so the high and low temperature performances of the cold recyclingmixtures were improved by adding SBS modified emulsified asphalt.
